- Secure the vehicle: Make sure the vehicle is secured in Park (P), completely deactivated (ignition/system off), and that the ventilation/air conditioning is switched off.
- Protection & hygiene: Place a mat or cloth under the work area to catch falling dirt. Safety glasses and a respirator mask will protect you from falling dust and pollen. It is best to have a vacuum cleaner ready to vacuum out the housing before installation.
- Lighting: Since the installation location is usually dark, we recommend using a headlamp or flashlight for the best possible visibility.
- Tools: No tools are required for the replacement. A plastic trim removal tool can optionally help with removing the footwell side trim.

Step-by-step instructions
-
Remove the side trim / cover
Look into the passenger footwell on the left side of the center console. If necessary, unclip the lower cover or soft carpet trim to get a clear view of the upright filter housing. -
Open the filter housing cover
The vertical filter cover is located at the center console. Press the retaining tab on the cover together and remove the cover toward the front. -
Remove both old filter elements
This vehicle platform uses a dual-filter set. First, pull out the upper/front filter element. Then reach into the compartment, lift the second/lower filter element, and pull it out as well. -
Insert the new filter elements one after the other
First slide the new filter element into the compartment and press it down/up into the housing. Then insert the second filter element directly behind or above it.↔ Airflow: The arrows on the long sides of both filters must point toward the rear (in the direction of the rear of the vehicle)!
💡 Pro tip: Make sure the first filter element slides cleanly into its guide rail before inserting the second one. Insert them gently to avoid bending the outer edges of the filter pleats!
-
Close the housing & secure the trim
Position the filter cover and press it firmly until the retaining tab audibly clicks into place. Then press the carpet or side trim in the footwell back into its retaining clips.
